AML & Compliance Documentation

Tailored AML/CTF policies, risk assessments and operational procedures built around the client’s actual business model.

Your engagement, at a glance

Deliverables are confirmed in your proposal and depend on the agreed scope.

What we prepare

Structured drafts of the agreed AML/CTF policies, risk assessments and operating procedures, covering areas such as customer due diligence, screening, monitoring, escalation and record keeping according to your business model.

What we need from you

Your products, customer types, markets, funds flows, responsible personnel and screening or monitoring arrangements. Share existing policies and reviewer feedback, and distinguish controls already operating from those still planned.

Who decides

Your management and compliance team review, approve and implement the framework, with qualified local advice where needed. Regulators and onboarding providers assess its suitability independently; prepared documents do not themselves establish operational compliance.

Documentation based on the actual business

An AML framework needs to explain how the business identifies and handles risk in practice. Meridian prepares structured first drafts around your products, customer types, payment flows, markets and internal responsibilities.

The scope can support a new business preparing its procedures or an existing company updating documentation that no longer reflects its operations.

Documentation scope

  • AML / CTF policy and procedures
  • Business-wide risk assessment
  • Customer risk assessment methodology
  • Customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) procedures
  • Politically exposed person (PEP) and sanctions screening procedures
  • Transaction monitoring and suspicious activity escalation procedures
  • Record keeping and staff training procedures

The agreed scope depends on the business and purpose of the work. Each document should connect to the people, systems and decisions described in the wider framework.

What we need from your team

The intake covers who your customers are, how they join, where they are based and how funds move through the business. We also ask about products, transaction limits, counterparties, screening and monitoring systems, and the people responsible for reviewing alerts or escalating concerns.

For an existing business, current policies and reviewer feedback help identify gaps. Where a control is still planned, it should be described as planned rather than presented as already operating.

From first draft to an operational framework

We organise the supplied information, prepare the agreed documents and coordinate clarification of gaps or inconsistencies. Your team checks whether the proposed procedures reflect what it can implement, including staff responsibilities, approval steps and record keeping.

Before implementation or submission, the documents should be reviewed and approved by management, the compliance officer and, where appropriate, local legal or regulatory counsel. Written procedures need to be supported by actual controls, training and ongoing oversight.

AML documentation questions

Can you update an existing AML policy?

Yes. Share the current documents, a description of what has changed and any feedback received. We can assess an appropriate drafting scope around those materials.

Does documentation support include a compliance officer?

Document preparation does not itself appoint a compliance officer or provide ongoing monitoring. Staffing, systems and operational responsibilities need to be arranged separately and reflected accurately in the documents.

Will a bank or regulator accept the documents?

Acceptance cannot be guaranteed. The reviewer considers the business and its wider controls. Meridian’s drafts require the client’s review and appropriate specialist approval before use.
